The SDI and HDMI outputs let you connect to any television or monitor and automatically detect and switch between all video formats. You even get high dynamic range playback and metadata over HDMI, along with support for Rec. 2020 colour space. You will ned to check whether your chosen editing or effcts program supports HDR playback.

The new DeckLink Mini 4K models are low profile 4 lane generation 2 PCI Express cards that include 6G-SDI and HDMI 2.0a connections. This means the high quality connections support broadcast quality 10-bit YUV and 12-bit RGB video, along with the latest Rec. 2020 colour and support for high dynamic range (HDR) formats and HDR metadata. Both DeckLink Mini 4K models are fully compatible with the Blackmagic Desktop Video SDK, making them perfect for OEMs or developers that are building custom playback or recording solutions.

DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K delivers better than broadcast quality SDI and HDMI monitoring and playback in all formats up to 2160p30, making it incredibly popular with editing and colour correction customers who work with systems such as DaVinci Resolve. The outputs automatically switch between all video formats, making it perfect for use with televisions, professional monitors and the latest HDMI projectors. In addition, support for HDR playback makes DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K the world's most affordable HDR playback solution available.

Sound only available through SDI or HDMI

This card only has SDI and HDMI connections. In most editing programs the sound has to be played by the same device which is playing the video. This means that the sound will ONLY be output throough th HDMI or SDI when editing. To hear the sound you will need to either listen to the sound through your chosen video monitor, or send the signal to an HDMI amplifier before it gets to the TV. This is the only option with Grass Valley EDIUS and Avid Media Composer. Adobe Premiere Pro, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve and Magix Vegas can all play the sound through the sound card whilst the picture is played through the Mini Monitor, although sometimes this results in the sound being slightly out of sync with the picture. If both sound and picture are played through the Mini Monitor they will be in sync, but you would need to listed to the TV/video monitor sound output or route them through an amplifier.
