4K Editing

About 4K

4K footage comes in 2 sizes:

  • UltraHD - 3840x2160, exactly twice the width and height of HD and the format designed for home use.  All new flat screen TVs are Ultra HD.
  • 4K - 4096x2160, the same height as Ultra HD but slightly more pixels in width.  This means this format is slightly more "widescreen" than UHD.  This format is designed for Cinema use mainly.

These formats can be available at different frames rates - 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, 50 fps & 60 fps.

New cameras are arriving which shoot in all these formats like the Panasonic GH4

Below we will present different sections on 4K cameras, how different editing programs handle 4K footage and what you can do with the footage after filming.
