The card has a 3 month DVC warranty.

EDIUS 7 shipping - EDIUS 7.01 available
EDIUS 7 was announced on 8th July 2013, and is now in stock. The major advance of the new version is that is 64 bit which means it can access multi-core processors and large amounts of memory found in modern PCs. The other major practical advance is that it can now capture and playback footage using low cost Blackmagic hardware, which means the price of a decent EDIUS system has been reduced. A full list of all the changes was in our last newsletter and is also on the DVC website
Free EDIUS 7 if you bought EDIUS 6.5 between 1st June 2013 and 30th September 2013
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, if you bought EDIUS 6.5 after 1st June, or if you buy it between now and 30th September, you can claim a free upgrade to version 7 direct from Grass Valley. This free upgrade is only available direct from Grass Valley and you must claim it within the time period they have specified (registration ends on 31st October). You can read more information on this on the Grass Valley website : http://www.grassvalley.com/products/edius_pro_7/free-upgrade-terms. If you qualify for a free upgrade then please request it ASAP. If you do not request the update in time you will have to pay to update.
Crossgrade to EDIUS from most other NLEs
Grass Valley have been running a crossgrade campaign with EDIUS 6.5 and this is continuing with EDIUS 7. This lets you buy EDIUS, at a reduced price, simply because you have been using another major editing program. This makes it the cheapest of the decent NLEs available (we are thinking of Premiere, Avid and Sony Vegas as the main competitors). We have a comparison between Avid, Premiere Pro and EDIUS which you can see on our website: http://www.dvc.uk.com/acatalog/The-great-EDIUS--Premiere---Avid-shootout-.html which we have updated to cover Premiere Pro CC, Avid Media Composer 7 and EDIUS 7.
Apart from the obvious interest from EDIUS users we have quite a few people who currently use Adobe Premiere Pro, who do not like the Creative Cloud rental model that Adobe have adopted and are changing to EDIUS because it does everything they need (in some ways more than Premiere Pro) and has a permanent license.
EDIUS 6 crossgrade (with free update to EDIUS 7): £229+VAT
EDIUS 7 crossgrade : £239+VAT
EDIUS 6.5 to 7 upgrade : £189+VAT
You can also order the 4 volumes of our EDIUS tutorials for half price (40.83+VAT), when you order EDIUS from us.

EDIUS 7.01 available
Grass Valley have produced an update to EDIUS which fixes some of the initial bugs with the software - including many of the problems related to using the disc burner. If you are using your EDIUS computer on-line it will prompt you to download the update automatically. If your editing machine is not on-line then you can download the update from the Grass Valley Support site: http://www.grassvalley.com/login?r=%2Fsupport%2Fdownloads%2Fproducts.
The biggest remaining bug with EDIUS 7 is that it cannot make variable bit rate MPEG files properly. We expect this to be fixed in the new few weeks. Please use constant bit rate for all MPEG2 files until this is fixed. If you use variable bit rate EDIUS will still make the MPEG files or DVD but they will be at a much lower bit rate than they have been set and the picture quality will suffer. This only affects file export using print to file, or the disc burner.

Vistitle for Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer announced
Vistitle is our favourite animated titling program for Grass Valley EDIUS and now it is available for Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro. At the time of writing this newsletter we have not had our first stock of this version although we do know the pricing will be the same as the EDIUS version - i.e. £199+VAT.
Our information is the the version needed to run Vistitle in Avid or Premiere is completely separate to the EDIUS version and will need a new dongle. We do not know if there is upgrade pricing for people who already own the EDIUS version. We expect to have all these answers in the next week or so.
If you want to see some of the features of Vistitle then have a look at some of our on-line videos:

DVC system for your existing editing software
Did you know that we are happy to supply a system and install your existing software and hardware on it, test the programs and guarantee the computer? Recently we have several discussion with customers whose old computers were dying in one way or another and want to get a working machine, but were happy with the version of Premiere/EDIUS/Avid they were using. We can always take an existing system and replace the motherboard, processor and memory, but keep all the other components, and rejig the system but if you do this the only parts under guarantee are the new ones. For only a few hundred pounds more you could have a completely new system with your old software installed. We can even use your existing copy of Windows, as long as you are not using it on another machine.
There are limitations to what will work on a modern PC of course. We can run Windows XP on a modern system but some components do not as well as they would under Windows 7 or 8, and some may not function at all. For example USB3 ports only work at USB2 speed on Windows XP, and the built-in Intel graphics card on modern computers does not work properly with XP (so we would turn it off and use a regular graphics card). Devices like Canopus DV Storm and Matrox RT.X100 will not work on a modern machine, but you can still run your software and capture through FireWire.
Obviously getting the latest version of your chosen editing program has many advantages over sticking with old software, but if you have a limited budget and are happy with the version you own then there is always the option to carry on using it!
There are so many possible variations of software and hardware that we cannot list all the possibilities here so if you want a "complete system refresh" then contact us at DVC and we can advise you of the possibilities with your setup.
System prices start at about £860 inc VAT.
You can see a sample of our basic system and configure it with various hard drives etc here: http://www.dvc.uk.com/acatalog/Low_Cost_EDIUS_system.html
EDITORS KEYS UK editing keyboards from DVC (prices from £39 inc VAT)
We are now supplying EDITORS KEYS editing keyboards for various editing systems. Previously we have been supplying Logic editing keyboards which we are still supplying, but which are fairly expensive at around £100 for a keyboard. The EDITORS KEYS keyboards have the advantage of offering the same range of keyboard short cuts on a high quality USB UK layout keyboards, but at a considerably lower price. The standard silver Premiere/EDIUS/Avid keyboards are £49 inc VAT.
SPECIAL OFFER ON BLACK EDIUS KEYBOARDS
Recently EDITORS KEYS redesigned their keyboards to have a nice, sleek, silver finish. As a result there is a special off on the older, Black EDIUS keyboards now at £39 inc VAT. This offer is strictly while stocks last.
You can see the full range of keyboards, with accessories like a rather nice wrist rest, on our website: http://www.dvc.uk.com/acatalog/Editors-Keys-Keyboard.html
Creative Cloud for Teams special offer ends 31st August (was later extended until End Nov 2013)
Adobe Creative Cloud for Teams is Adobe's new subscription service designed for business users. We currently have a special offer running where, if you are upgrading from CS3/CS4/CS5/CS5.5 or CS6 to CC for teams you get a much lower price and the price is fixed for two years. This offer is available on CC for Teams for the full Adobe suite of 15 programs. You pay £362 per annum promotional price offer and receive the SAME promotional renewal price for the second year, rather than have the price rise to £692 per annum.
This offer ends on 31st August 2013 - so the end of this week!
You can read more about Creative Cloud for Teams on our website: http://www.dvc.uk.com/acatalog/Adobe-Creative-Cloud.html.
CC For Teams Individual Products now available
Adobe have now started licensing CC For Teams for just one product rather than the entire suite. This means if you only want to use Premiere Pro then you can subscribe to just Premiere at a cost of £266.76 for the year, rather than the entire suite. Each program in the suite costs the same so if you subscribe to 3 or more programs you would be better to subscribe to the whole suite. If you do subscribe to the entire suite, but when the renewal date comes around you decide that you only want to carry on using Premiere Pro then you may do so.
CC for Teams has a few advantages over regular Creative Cloud, especially if you are trying to manage several users of the software, or wanting to deploy the software over many machines in a network. In addition you get more online storage space and access to a higher level of technical support at Adobe. Of course DVC customers get access to DVC's high level of technical support all the time.
Visit our Adobe Premiere Pro pages for more information: http://www.dvc.uk.com/acatalog/Adobe_Premiere_Pro.html
DVC support for regular Creative Cloud - £10 per month
At DVC we can sell Creative Cloud for Teams but we cannot sell the regular Creative Cloud. If you are a home user, or have just one person in the company using the software then it makes more sense to buy the regular Creative Cloud software direct from Adobe, rather than CC for teams from us. However at DVC we can only afford to give support to people who have bought software or computers from us, so if you buy the software direct from Adobe we cannot give you support on it, unless you are buying it with a new system.
Many customers have said they would like to use the Creative Cloud software but continue to get support from us, so we have introduced the DVC CC support contract. For £10 per month, or £100 per year we will support you using the Adobe Creative Cloud software as if you had bought the software direct from us at DVC.
If you would like to know more please email as at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.4 patch released
Adobe have released a patch for Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 which fixes several bugs which in the current version of the software. The most major bug is one where people have been having problems with spanned AVCHD clips - clips which have been split into several sections when recording because they were filmed over more than 20 minutes continually. It also fixes some problems with the warp stabilizer.
The patch is free and available now either from the automatic update or by downloading direct from Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=98&platform=Windows
We have done some brief tests with this download with Matrox and Blackmagic hardware and both appear to be working fine. If you are not suffering from any problems with your current Adobe 6.0.3 then we suggest you stay as you are, simply because we have not had a huge amount of time to test the new update with the current Matrox and Blackmagic drivers. If you have having problems with either the warp stabilizer or spanned AVCHD clips then we suggest you update.
